In Your Faith
Happy November guys!!!
Y'all know what day it is. Let's get into it.
Today we're going to talk about setting an example by your faith.
While thinking about this, I asked myself, "How do you even do that?".
I think the best way to figure this out is to understand what faith is. After one simple Google search, faith is defined as "complete trust in someone or something."
Our biblical definition will be taken from Hebrews 11:1.
"Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see"
Genesis 22:1-19 is an excellent, radical demonstration of what faith is. In this scripture, the Lord tells Abraham to sacrifice his only son, Isaac. So Abraham takes his son and two servants and goes on the journey, which seems to have taken about three days, to the place where God told him to sacrifice his son.
He goes all the way up the mountain...binds his son...lays him at the alter...gets the knife AND THEN an angel appeared and stopped him. It was all a test. I consider this an act of faith. In verse 8 Abraham said to his son, "God himself will provide the lamb for the burnt offering, my son." And you know what? He did! Abraham trusted that God had a plan that was beyond his understanding. Even if that was taking his son, he trusted God.
Now that we have a grasp of what faith is, how do we demonstrate that to others?Well, I have a friend who gave up a relationship because God told him to. Not because he wanted to, not because it was easy to give up but solely because God said he had to let it go. He trusted God and despite not knowing the plan, he did it anyway.
This common theme keeps reappearing as I write this...trusting God without knowing the plan.
Jeremiah 29:11 reads;
"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."
I don't know who needs to hear this but to set an example in your faith, you must first have faith.
I also told you this story because his openness about his trust in God was very inspiring to me to be willing to trust God as well. His willingness to share part of his story as a Christian changed my perspective.
I think our testimonies are how we show our faith. Being vulnerable about how God has worked in our lives and even the things you would have gone through before turning to God.

However hard it is to believe, your story matters. There is someone who is going through the same struggles you would have went through before you came to God that needs to know they are not alone.
I know that being vulnerable is hard. We can start small. Believe it or not, this blog was my way of starting small in showing my faith because sometimes I found myself nervous to talk about it.
Let's change that norm today! Let's invite people to church a little more often. Let us turn away from being uncomfortable bringing up God in front of our friends. Let us be bold about God !
Until next time,
Nyeka.
