Not Our Credit to Take

Hello Hello my people. God has really put this on my heart so let's just get straight into it.

Imagine you had an idea (Any mind blowing problem solving idea you can think of). You assign the task to someone, provide all that is necessary and all they have to do is execute it. Stay with me now.

After the person has executed it successfully, they take 100% of the credit for everything. No mention of how it was your idea, how you gave them the supplies, just that they did it all on their own.

We sometimes do this to God.

I am currently studying out the book of Isaiah and the verse which stood out to me today was Isaiah 10:15.

It reads:

"Does the axe raise itself above the person who swings it or the saw boast against the one who uses it?"

This really got my attention because as human beings we can begin to become very carried away with the idea of our "accomplishments" and "achievements" and forget all about who gave us the ability to do these things. We can become arrogant and neglect to give glory where it is due. More often than not it's not even intentional. We do work hard for things and when we obtain it for a moment it's easy to believe we did these  things all on our own. Who gave us the gifts we currently have?? Everything we have, we received from God (read 1Corinthians 4:7)

We are merely vessels. Vessels to spread His word, to bring people to Him and to do so without longing for recognition. In Luke 17: 7- 10, Jesus said to the apostles they should not seek praise for just doing what they ought to do. Therefore let's not get caught up in being recognized or being acknowledged because there will come a day where our service will be recognized by the Most High. Let's serve with a giving heart regardless of what happens after.

Until Next Time,

Nyeka.

  1. Spot on. It's so easy to lose sight of who gave us the talent or why we serve.
